Corinth Sucks Again

Alcorn County, home of Corinth (MS) proved yesterday it is still stuck in the 1850's. The liquor referendum to bring liquor sales back to Alcorn County failed 55 to 45%. Talk about stuck in a black hole. Yikes. Thats why I like living in Starkville so much and call Starkville home. It is in reality ville.

But hey, what can you expect from a bunch of redneck, self righteous, heavily conservative, hypocritical, bratty 1850 wanna be's. Corinth is and always will be the Salem of the South. Warning to witches. Stay away.

UPDATE:

The day after the liquor referendum failed, two national chain restaurants pulled out of contracts that would have brought them to Corinth. Those two are Chili's and Applebees. That would have really helped a restaurant market that currently lists only McAllisters, Ryan's & Ruby Tuesday's as chain restuarants outside of fast food.

UPDATE # 2 (January 17, 2005):

On a side note, the Pickwick, TN area just got resort status from the TN state legislature and can now sell liquor at restaurants (they already had package liquor). For those not from the area, Pickwick is a popular day trip destination for those in the area due to the state park, the river and lake, the Waterfalls, and golfing along with boating, fishing, and camping. The Rib Cage their has great BBQ along with quail.

You can't be talking about a place in Mississippi, are you? Wait... 1850s, redneck, hypocritical, and heavily conservative...wait, you are talking about Mississippi.

Hahaha. You'd think. But the state line mob is more noted for their Tennessee loyalties. And putting liquor in Corinth takes away from their McNairy county "Bufford Pusser" profits. They were one of the leaders in getting liquor out of Alcorn County back a while back and in keeping it out. Now the churches more dominate liquor being outlawed in Alcorn County.

Corinth is an incredible place to live. Our people may be rednecks, but we care about the well being of each other. We just trying to keep the "witches" out of our "black hole". Our principals maybe different from yours, but hey, that's makes America great. I'll tell you one thing that makes me very proud of my home town. We didn't back down from what we believed for some goofy "eatin' places".As for the self righteous part, I'm no better than anyone else out there. I mess up everyday. I just found someone who loved me enough to die for me. Through Him I can love you too.
