SA Elections Are Under Way ... I Think

Hey ya'll,

From what I hear, SA elections are officially under way and ready to roar up with Spring Break over and only 6 school days to campaign. Of course, today (Monday), they were at a roaring peak, buzzing all around. Thats right, you could hear the grass grow.

The people out campaigning were sparse and very few in between. In fact, no one got there til 11:00 approx. Being the campaign person that I am, I almost cried. You can imagine the tears. To recover, I walk almost to the Sanderson center, get the TJ Harvey for SA flag out of my car, and return to the Drill Field fresh with my Cat-In-the-Hat hat (maroon and white of course) to campaign for good 'ol TJ. By virtue of the flag and more visible shirts, they were easily the most visible. Sadly, that might not have made Top TEN last year. I also noticed in my 3 hot spot hours (11 til 2 o'clock) a mere two John David supporters, one of which was freshman Miss Martin who led JD's crew with stickers for about an hour or more. I have seen a sign for Clare Cothren for senior class president and a girl supporting Katie Leech for the same spot on the Drill Field with a sticker (maybe more).

To the rest of the teams, ya'll suck. Currently, Corey Carter is running in the Top 3 and he has no opponent. Where the rest of you people at. If you can't work at election time, the chances of seeing you do something in office is zilch. Who wants another figure head AG or VP or Senior class president.

To those who are running; check and look in the mirror to make sure you know you will work for MSU, not be another fool with a title. We already got them.

Get your tail on the Drill Field and campaign. I know i'll be there.

There's only one other contest which is senior class president Swanson. Besides, bickering gets things talked about and starts trying to accomplish things. It just has to be constructive bickering and utilized well.

Students need to be involved on campus issues and that is why we campaign.

Sadly, the SA has done little to motivate students to vote and why they should vote as election time nears.

Other than TJ Harvey's campaign, there have sadly been no other candidates out there. With the effort they are putting in now, this may be the worst set of SA Exec ever coming in 2005-2006.

Matt,
You have been a big asset to TJ's campaign and I appreciate it! Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to everything that you do (regarding presidential campaign, college democrats/sometime republicans, whatever) You just always put your heart and soul into everything you do. You don't know it, but many people look up to you and your work ethic. Keep up the good work. I will join you on the Drill Field tomorrow!

TJ for SA President!

To the Duke:

I think i said alreadyu JD's crew was on the drill field in this direct quote: "I also noticed in my 3 hot spot hours (11 til 2 o'clock) a mere two John David supporters, one of which was freshman Miss Martin who led JD's crew with stickers for about an hour or more." Miss Martin did a good job and has up through wednesday. however, other than a glimpse of help from alisha blades, she has been about the only one. being that i have been on the drill field from at least 11 til 2 everyday this week (maroon and white cat-in-the-hat hat), 11 til 2 being peak hours, i have yet to see JD himself actually campaign. just an observation.

To Marshall:

Half of that statement ("Wake up Mr. and Miss SA. Stop gettin drunk at the bars and coming up with bad plots.") was tongue and cheek and sarcastic. I will do that from time to time. The drunk part was about the stereotypical drunken college student, not at anyone in particular. The part about bad plots is familiar to anyone who reads ed's blog (check out march post, especially the one with daniel melder's picture). Again, some of it is jokingly said, some of it rightly said.

Also, I believe i made this statement in ed's blog concerning SA elections. I was merely advocating the SA do a "Get Out the Vote Campaign" just like they are encouraging in the Starkville elections. Last year, we celebrated the record turnout. The bad part was it was less than 30%. Students should vote in larger numbers. Furthermore, I was advocating that the SA (being that they should know best) tell students about the importance of SA exec, what all the SA does, and how voting is important. Hence, wake up Mr. and Miss SA and stop getting drunk at bars. (Note: this statement is half heart, half joke). Thanks.

"I personally think Hell would be a nice summer destination, at least for an hour maybe."

Wow, this is an absurd comment Holmes! Are you saying that you think your soul will go to hell when you die? Do you actually WANT to go there? This offends me deeply that you would say something like this on Ed's blog under the Michael Venyah rant. Does this offend anyone else? Please help me out here Holmes!

Duke:

if the statement about about a summer destination/trip to Hell bothers you, then i would have only one thing to say:

Get a life. One, it was a joke but not really. What is wrong with visiting Hell. Its summer all year round. and hey, maybe we could see what Lucifer has to say.

My blogging ain't church. If you want God talk, go find a church or preacher or some other bible reader and follower.

In my blog, we treat things equally. I have never met physically or heard in person Jesus, Lucifer, or God. And i don't take what i read in a book to be fact.

If you can't respect and treat others equally (hell included), then post elsewhere. Equality will be on my blog above all else. Simple as that.
