Wrist Prep

Good news!!! I get to have my cast taken off of my arm monday. Bad news. It comes back on after the surgery. Ain't that grand. In the mean time, i spent my free wednesday morning, normally spent hanging out in front of the union at a college dems booth with my fellow donkeys, getting prep tests done in columbus. you know, a guy and a cup & a little blood drawn. all fun stuff.

Even better is that I got to go to Office Depot in Columbus and find a printer which I successfully did. Apparentl, all printers come in combo packages these days unless they are laser printers so i settled for the 6 in 1 scanner, copier, fax, photo doc, printer, and PC only fax. As long as it prints, i'm happy. Now all i have to do is get my grumpy little brother to set it up (install software, hook the cables, read the directions, etc.). This he should do nicely so i don't have to barge into his room anytime of the day or night to use his printer. Something about using his printer at 3 in the morning ticks him off.

I also was proud that i dropped by the different clothing stores and didn't buy anything despite stuff being on sale. maybe i'm getting back to my old, less woman like (ya know, browse for hours, then buy everything they see) shopping habits. True test = speed grocery shopping. We'll see.

RWS and Exorcism's

Hey all,

For those of you who missed Running With Scissors last friday night, you missed a great show for a great cause. RWS managed to raise over $1200 for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort while giving the crowd tons of laughs and plenty of great skits and improv. Congrats to the cast led by host Houston Longino including actors Mark Harris, Kristen James, Dustin LeFors, James Comans, Laura Rayburn, Brandon Morris, and the "Trojan Man" Matt Albert along with many great performers including the little white guy. Great show guys.

After RWS, we went to Applebee's for food and drinks then a quick stop at my house. Probably so we could all ride in the back of a truck. Soon, however, the laughs and jokes from RWS and such were turned into sights almost as scary as the Bush Administration. Even the devil begged to go back to hell claiming the conditions were better there than under a Bush-Republican Whitehouse.

Hence, I'm not ashamed to admit it. The movie about Emily Jones's exorcism scared the hell out of me. People and goblins and zombies and whatever attacking are fine, but a devil you can't see wreaking havoc on someone is pretty damn unusual and pretty much freaks me out. As a result, I have increased my campaigning to get a good seat in Hell (since I'm a Democrat and thus obviously going there) so that the Devil works with me, not inside me. I'm not that touchy feely. On the safe side, we did all stay up at my place til after 3:30 so that we could make sure that all clocks safely made it to 3:01. All checks a go. Nites.

COPE Course at Camp Seminole

Hey ya'll,

This is my first post in a while since I have been a little busy and a little lazy as of late. Oh well.

Last Friday, September 9th, my Leadership Skills class took part in taking on the COPE Course at Camp Seminole. Normally, I would be upset about class on Fridays considering I don't have class on Fridays now just as many of you would be. However, considering we were out in the woods at the course, I was sort of happy to be there and rather enjoyed getting to partake in the team challenges and hang with my classmates.

The activities included:
  • Falling backwards from a podium 6 feet off the ground and being caught by our teammates or hitting the ground. We were all caught
  • Trying to fit 10 people on a square platform 12 inches wide.
  • Moving all members through a tire 4 feet off the ground without touching the tire with members unable to return to the otherside after they go through. We only lost one arm.
  • Moving our team across the 7 swinging tires each three feet off the ground and 5 or 6 feet apart without touching the ground.
  • Climbing the 15 foot wall with no ropes or pegs (we all got boosts off of Brad's back).
  • Climbing a rock wall (never done before) .
  • Propelling 40 feet and 60 feet off a tower (never done before).
  • Bunches of games and other team tasks.

Lots of fun, cast included.
